Daily Market Monitor 6-02-2025

 

Tadawul Review:

Tadawul All Share Index (TASI) fell on Wednesday, dropping by 20 points (-0.2%) to close at 12,414. The index opened 15 points lower than its previous close and experienced fluctuations throughout the session, eventually closing at its lowest point of the day. Overall, 11 out of 21 sectors closed in the red zone, while 122 shares fell and 102 rose. Telecommunications (-1.1%), Banks (-0.1%), and Utilities (-0.7%) sectors contributed the most to the index fall. Stockwise, Al Rajhi Bank (-0.6%), ACWA Power (-1.1%), and Etihad Etisalat  (-2.2%) were the major contributors. The trading activity witnessed a decrease in volume by -15% to reach 316mn shares, while the value increased by 11% to reach SAR7.0bn in value traded.

 

 

 

Market Wrap International:

Stocks rebounded on Wednesday as gains in real estate (+1.59%), utilities (+1.57%), and information technology (+1.07%) offset underwhelming earnings from major tech firms. Bonds climbed after weak U.S. services data signaled a potential slowdown. The S&P 500 advanced by 0.4%, while the NASDAQ gained 0.2%.

Despite early swings, European markets finished in positive territory, with upbeat results from GSK and Novo Nordisk lifting healthcare stocks and offsetting weakness in carmakers. The DAX gained 0.4%, the Euro STOXX 600 advanced 0.5%, and the FTSE 100 edged up 0.6%, while the CAC 40 declined 0.2%.

Asian markets were mixed on Wednesday, while gold surged to a record high as investors monitored escalating trade tensions between China and the United States after both nations imposed fresh tariffs. The Hang Seng dropped 0.9%, the SHCOMP declined 0.6%, while the NIKKEI 225 advanced 0.1%, and the KOSPI edged up 1.1%.
