Tadawul All Share Index (TASI) fell on Wednesday, decreasing by 43 points (-0.4%) to close at the 12,019 level. TASI opened 2 points lower than the previous closing level and then began to decrease further, fluctuating until it closed at its lowest point for the session. Overall, 11 out of 21 sectors closed in the red zone, while 129 shares fell and 92 rose. Banks (-0.4%), Materials (-0.7%), and Utilities (-1.3%) sectors contributed the most to the index fall. Stockwise, ACWA Power (-1.8%), Saudi Awwal Bank (-3.0%), and Sabic (-1.0%) were the major contributors. The trading activity witnessed a decrease in volume and value of -54% and -18%, respectively, to reach 586mn shares and SAR6.0bn in value traded.
U.S. equity futures experienced fluctuations as investors evaluated corporate earnings, with Microsoft Corp. and Meta Platforms Inc. At the same time, gold and Bitcoin were hovering near their record highs. The S&P 500 inched down by -0.3%, the Nasdaq Composite fell by -0.6%, and the Dow Jones Industrial Average slipped by -0.2%.

However, most Asian markets saw declines as risk appetite waned due to concerns about a closely fought U.S. presidential election and a wave of crucial economic indicators coming this week. Asian markets displayed mixed performances, with the NIKKEI 225 advancing by 1%. However, the Hang Seng Index fell by -1.5%, and the KOSPI declined by -0.9%.
