U.S. stocks extended gains after the Federal Reserve delivered its first rate cut of the year, lowering the federal funds rate by 25 basis points to 4.00%–4.25%. Optimism that more cuts could follow supported risk appetite, with technology names leading advances. The Nasdaq rose 0.7%, the S&P 500 climbed 0.5%, and the Dow Jones added 0.4%.

European shares were subdued as weak growth signals and persistent inflation concerns kept investors cautious. The FTSE 100 and DAX each slipped 0.1%, the CAC was nearly flat at -0.01%, and the Euro Stoxx 600 fell 0.2%.

Asian markets mostly declined under pressure from China’s ongoing economic challenges and soft global demand. The SHCOMP dropped 0.3%, the Kospi lost 0.5%, and the Nikkei 225 slid 0.6%, while the Hang Seng ended flat.
