Tadawul Review:

Tadawul All Share Index (TASI) fell on Sunday, dropping 43 points (-0.4%) to close at 11,849. TASI started the session Positively, opening 6 points above than the previous close, then faced fluctuation until the end of the session. Overall, 14 out of 21 sectors closed in the red zone, while 137 shares fell and 84 rose. Energy (-1.8%), Health care equipment and services (- 3.1%), and Capital goods (-2.3%) sectors contributed the most to the index fall. Stockwise, Aramco (-1.9%), Sulaiman Al Habib (-4%), and Riyadh Cables (-6.3%) were the major contributors. The trading activity witnessed a decrease in volume and value of -64% and -62%, respectively, to reach 171mn shares and SAR4.1bn in value traded.

On Wednesday, December 25, 2024, markets in the United States will be closed in observance of Christmas Day, a major holiday. As a result, trading volumes are expected to be lighter, and economic activity will be subdued.

 

The STOXX 600 index in Europe experienced its second consecutive weekly decline on Friday, with the healthcare sector seeing the biggest losses. This was primarily due to a drop in shares of Danish company Novo Nordisk (NYSE:NVO) following disappointing results from its trial of a next-generation obesity drug. The GDP (YoY) (Q3) report for the UK, scheduled for release on Monday, December 23, 2024, is a crucial economic event that will provide insight into the country’s economic performance during the third quarter of the year. 

 

The BoJ Core CPI (YoY) report, due on Tuesday, December 24, 2024, will provide key insights into Japan's inflation trends.
