Tadawul Review:

Tadawul All Share Index (TASI) fell on Thursday, dropping by -128 points (-1.1%) to close at 11,544. The trading session began positively, with a 7-point lower than its previous close, but gradually declined until the middle of the session, settling in the red zone. Overall, 17 out of 21 sectors closed in the red zone, while 193 shares fell and 52 rose. Banks (-1.5%), Materials (-‎‎0.9%), and Utilities (-2.2%) sectors contributed the most to the index fall. Stockwise, Al Rajhi Bank (-0.9%), ACWA Power (-2.5%), and Saudi National Bank (-2.2%) were the major contributors. The trading activity witnessed a decrease in volume of -19% to reach 243mn, and value decreased by -27% to reach SAR5.1bn value traded.

U.S. stocks surged on Friday, May 2, 2025, as a stronger-than-expected April jobs report eased recession fears and signaled resilience in the labor market. The rally extended the S&P 500’s longest winning streak in over two decades, fueled by renewed optimism over a possible easing in U.S.-China trade tensions. Sector gains were led by Communication Services (+2.31%), Financials (+2.15%), and Industrials (+1.81%). The S&P 500 rose by 1.5%, the Dow Jones Industrial Average advanced by 1.4%, and the NASDAQ rose by 1.5%.

European shares surged on Friday, buoyed by optimism over a potential de-escalation in U.S.-China trade tensions and a stronger-than-expected U.S. jobs report that lifted global sentiment. The rally capped a week dominated by corporate earnings across the continent, with investors showing renewed risk appetite amid improving macroeconomic signals and easing geopolitical concerns. The STOXX 600 edged up 1.7%, DAX advanced 2.6%, France’s CAC 40 posted gains of 2.3%, and FTSE 100 climbed 1.2%.

Asia-Pacific markets advanced on Friday, buoyed by renewed hopes for U.S.-China trade negotiations after Beijing signaled it was open to dialogue. The regional rally also mirrored gains on Wall Street, where investor optimism about artificial intelligence developments. Nikkei 225 gained 1.0%, the KOSPI advanced 0.1%, and Hang Seng rose 1.7%.
