Market Wrap International:

U.S. equities ended lower with major indices pressured by an escalation in geopolitics that lifted energy prices, weighed on risk appetite, and heightened inflation expectations. Broad selling hit financials and cyclical sectors, while safe-haven flows supported the dollar. The S&P 500 dropped -0.9 %, the Dow Jones Industrial Average declined -0.8 %, and the NASDAQ Composite slid -1.0 % as geopolitical risks and inflation concerns dominated sentiment.

European equities ended sharply lower as widening conflict in the Middle East and surging energy costs damped sentiment across the region, pushing banking and industrial stocks notably lower. Investors reduced exposure to risk assets, driving regional benchmarks down markedly. The FTSE 100 fell -2.7 %, the DAX declined -3.4 %, the CAC 40 slid -3.5 %, and the EURO STOXX ‎‎600 lost -3.1 %, reflecting broad weakness linked to risk-off flows and inflationary fears.

Asian markets are trading under heavy pressure amid heightened risk aversion and the global sell-off extending into the region, with export-oriented markets most impacted. South Korea’s KOSPI slumped -7.2 %, Japan’s Nikkei 225 dropped -3.1 %, China’s SHCOMP eased -1.4 %, and Hong Kong’s Hang Seng declined -1.1 % as investors rotated out of equities into safe-haven assets and currencies.
