Tadawul Review:

Tadawul All Share Index (TASI) rose on Wednesday, June 04, advancing by 172 points (+1.6%) to close at 11,005. The trading session began on a positive note over the previous close. The index continued to gradually increase to record the biggest move since April 10 and close in the positive territory. Overall, 18 out of 21 sectors closed in the green zone, while ‎‎191 shares rose and 50 fell. Banks (+2.6%), Utilities (+5.3%), and Materials (1.1%) sectors contributed the most to the index rise. Stockwise, Al Rajhi Bank (+3.7%), ACWA Power ‎‎(6.7%), and Saudi Telecom (+2.3%) were the major contributors. The trading activity witnessed an increase in volume and value of +7.8% and +29.9%, respectively, to reach ‎‎183mn shares and SAR4.6bn in value traded.

 

Market Wrap International:

Stocks rose on Tuesday as hopes grew for progress in U.S.-China trade talks, with upbeat comments from U.S. Officials fueling optimism even though a deal remained uncertain as negotiations stretched into a second day. The dollar also strengthened on the back of these remarks. Gains were led by Energy, up 1.77%, followed by Consumer Discretionary and Health Care, which rose 1.19% and 1.09% respectively. Investors are eyeing the U.S. Inflation report due Wednesday, June 11. The Nasdaq rose by 0.6%, the S&P 500 gained by 0.5%, and the Dow Jones Industrial Average advanced by 0.2%.

European shares ended on a mixed note, with investors treading carefully as they awaited the outcome of the second day of U.S.-China trade talks taking place in London. Looking ahead, markets will be watching for the U.K.’s April GDP data on Thursday, June 12, followed by Germany’s May CPI figures on Friday, June 13. The CAC 40 rose by 0.2% and the FTSE 100 gained by 0.2%. In contrast, the DAX fell by -0.8% and the Euro STOXX 600 dropped by -0.02%.

Asia-Pacific markets were mixed as investors remained cautious, awaiting more clarity from the ongoing U.S.-China trade talks entering their second day. The Nikkei 225 experienced a positive movement, rising by 0.3%, while the KOSPI also saw gains of 0.6%. In contrast, the SHCOMP faced a -0.4% decline, and the Hang Seng index recorded a -0.1% drop as well.
