Tadawul Review:

Tadawul All Share Index (TASI) fell on Monday, dropping by 78 points (-0.7%) to close at 11,549. The index opened positively, up 7 points from the previous close, but then declined throughout the session, reaching its lowest point by the end. Overall, 21 out of ‎‎21 sectors closed in the red zone, while 195 shares fell and 45 rose. Real Estate (-2.3%), Materials (-0.7%), and Banks (-0.2%) sectors contributed the most to the index fall. Stockwise, Aramco (-1.0%), Dar Al Arkan (-5.5%), and ACWA Power (-0.8%) were the major contributors. The trading activity witnessed a decrease in volume of -‎‎10% to reach ‎‎168mn while the value increased by 0.02% to reach SAR3.6bn value traded.

 

 

Market Wrap International:

U.S. stocks plunged on Monday as President Donald Trump escalated his social media attacks on Federal Reserve Chair Jerome Powell, raising concerns about the central bank’s independence and undermining investor confidence. The lack of progress in global trade talks and uncertainty over Trump’s tariff policies further fueled market volatility. The S&P 500 fell -2.4%, the Nasdaq Composite dropped -2.6%, and the Dow Jones Industrial Average declined -2.5%. Within the S&P 500, key sectors were hit hard, with Consumer Discretionary declining 2.86%, Information Technology falling 2.72%, and Energy dropping 2.52%, reflecting widespread investor unease.

Meanwhile, European markets remained closed for the Easter holiday.

Asia-Pacific markets traded mixed on Monday as China’s central bank opted to hold rates steady, despite mounting pressure on the yuan amid ongoing U.S.-China trade tensions. Trading volumes were relatively subdued due to lingering Easter holiday closures across parts of the region. The Nikkei 225 edged down -1.3%, while the Shanghai Composite rose 0.4% and the KOSPI gained 0.2%.
