Tadawul Review:

Tadawul All Share Index (TASI) fell on Wednesday, dropping by 117 points (-1%) and broke the 12,000 level to close at 11,930. TASI started the session on a negative note, opening 16 points lower than the previous close. The index fell significantly after the opening and continued to drop during the first 30 minutes, before showing slight fluctuations until the end of the session. Overall, 19 out of 21 sectors closed in the red zone, while 178 shares fell and 52 rose. Banks (-‎‎1.7%), Materials (-0.8%), and Food and beverages (-1.3%) sectors contributed the most to the index fall. Stockwise, Al Rajhi Bank (-1.9%), Aramco (-0.5%), and Saudi National Bank (-1.6%) were the major contributors. The trading activity witnessed a decrease in volume and value of -24% and -4%, respectively, to reach 366mn shares and SAR5.5bn in value traded.

 

 

Market Wrap International:

Futures for US stocks fell on Wednesday, as investors looked to upcoming inflation data and worried that President-elect Donald Trump's 'America-First' approach could stoke inflation. The Dow Jones Industrial Average rose by 0.11%, and the S&P 500 increased by 0.02%. In contrast, the Nasdaq Composite fell by -0.3%.

On Wednesday, UK stock indexes experienced slight gains as investors awaited key U.S. inflation data to assess the potential impact on monetary policy, while defense firm Smiths Group rallied to a record high after raising its revenue outlook. The FTSE 100 edged up by 0.1%, while the CAC 40 and Euro STOXX 600 both declined by -0.1%, and the DAX dropped by -0.2%.

Stocks in Asia fell again as concerns mounted over the potential consequences of Donald Trump's presidency on both China and the global economy, with apprehensions that his policies could reignite inflation in the U.S. The Hang Seng dropped by -0.1%, the KOSPI declined by -2.6%, and the NIKKEI 225 edged down by -1.7%.
