Market Wrap International:

U.S. equities ended marginally lower in a subdued, holiday-thinned session as the absence of fresh macroeconomic catalysts and lighter participation kept moves limited. Trading volumes remained well below average, with investors largely maintaining year-end positioning rather than initiating new risk. The S&P 500 declined -0.03%, the Dow Jones slipped -0.04%, and the NASDAQ fell -0.1%, reflecting minor consolidation following recent highs rather than a shift in broader sentiment.

European equities ended the session amid subdued trading conditions, as investors navigated a holiday-shortened calendar and limited macroeconomic catalysts. Activity was restrained by thin liquidity, with market participants largely maintaining existing positions rather than initiating new exposure ahead of year-end. Attention remained on broader global cues and expectations for upcoming economic data releases in early 2026, while sector-level flows reflected cautious positioning rather than conviction trades.

Asian markets ended mixed, with trading activity concentrated in markets that remained open amid the holiday period. Japan’s Nikkei 225 rose 0.7% and South Korea’s KOSPI advanced 0.5%, supported by selective gains in exporters and technology shares, while China’s SHCOMP increased 0.1% as mainland investors maintained a cautious but constructive tone. Hong Kong’s Hang Seng was closed, limiting regional liquidity and overall participation.
