Market Wrap International:

U.S. stocks fell sharply as renewed uncertainty over the Federal Reserve’s rate path and softer tech sentiment pressured major benchmarks. Treasury yields edged higher and investors rotated out of growth names ahead of key inflation data, sending the NASDAQ down -2.0 %, the S&P 500 off -1.2 %, and the Dow Jones lower by -0.5 %.

European equities followed Wall Street’s weaker tone, with risk appetite limited by sticky inflation concerns and cautious corporate guidance. Financials and industrials lagged, while defensives and energy offered some support. The FTSE 100 rose 0.1 %, but the DAX fell -0.8 %, the CAC dropped -0.5 %, and the EURO STOXX 600 lost -0.3 %.

Asian markets extended declines as global growth worries, export weakness, and ongoing currency pressures hit sentiment. Technology and semiconductor shares led losses, with South Korea’s KOSPI slumping -2.4 %, Japan’s Nikkei 225 down -1.7 %, Hong Kong’s Hang Seng off -0.8 %, and China’s SHCOMP lower by -0.4 %.
