Tadawul Review:

The Tadawul All Share Index (TASI) declined on Thursday, dropping 142 points (-1.2%) to close at 11,882. The index opened 158 points lower and remained in negative territory throughout the session. Overall, 18 out of 21 sectors ended in the red, with 184 stocks declining and 58 posting gains. The Banks (-1.4%), Materials (-1.8%), and Energy (-1.7%) sectors were the main contributors to the drop. On the stock level, Aramco (-1.7%), Al Rajhi Bank (-1.4%), and Maaden (-4.9%) weighed most heavily on the index.Trading activity saw an 11.6% increase in volume to 280 million shares, while the total value traded dropped by -8% to SAR 5.5 billion.

U.S. markets closed sharply lower on Friday, capping a volatile week as renewed fears of a global trade war and the economic impact of fresh U.S. tariffs rattled investor sentiment. The S&P 500’s Energy (-8.7%), Financials (-7.39%), and Information Technology (-6.33%) sectors posted the steepest losses. The S&P 500 dropped by 6%, the Nasdaq fell by 5.8%, and the Dow Jones Industrial Average declined by 5.5%.

European stocks tumbled on Friday after China retaliated with steep tariffs, just days after President Trump’s sweeping trade measures — intensifying fears that an escalating trade war could tip the global economy toward recession. The CAC 40 dropped by 4.3%, the Euro STOXX 600 lost 5.1%, and both the FTSE 100 and DAX declined by 5%.

 

Asian markets tumbled on Friday as investors digested the escalating economic consequences of President Trump’s tariffs, with sentiment further rattled by China’s retaliatory measures. The Nikkei 225 declined 2.8%, and the TOPIX dropped by 3.4%. The KOSPI index also ended lower by 0.9%.
