The index opened 8 points above its previous close, but before closing it faced selling pressure, yet remained in the green zone. Overall, 9 out of 21 sectors closed in the green zone, and 112 shares rose while 143 fell. Banks (+2.3%), Capital Goods (+1.7%), and Pharma, Biotech & Life Science (+0.9%) sectors contributed the most to the index rise. Stockwise, Alrajhi (+3.3%), SNB (+3.1%), and Albilad (+2.0%) were the major contributors to the index rise. The trading activity witnessed an increase in volume and value of +32% and +36%, respectively, to reach 337mn shares and SAR 8.5bn in value traded.
