Tadawul Review:  

Tadawul All Share Index (TASI) fell on Monday, dropping by -12 points (-0.1%) to close at 10,886. TASI opened with little change, fluctuated until the middle of the session, then stabilized in the red zone until the end of the session. Overall, 16 out of 21 sectors closed in the red zone, while 148 shares fell and 104 roses. Utilities (-1.2%), Telecommunications (-0.7%), and Insurance (-0.6%) sectors contributed the most to the index fall. Stockwise, ACWA Power (-1.5%), Maaden (-1.1%), and Saudi Awwal Bank (-1.6%) were the major contributors. The trading activity witnessed an increase in volume and value of 14% and 20%, respectively, to reach 217mn shares and SAR3.8bn in value traded.

 

 

Market Wrap International:

U.S. stocks ended mixed on Monday, with the S&P 500 easing slightly from record territory as investors stayed cautious ahead of Federal Reserve Chair Powell’s Jackson Hole speech. Gains in small-cap and defensive shares helped offset weakness in large-cap tech. The Dow Jones Industrial Average slipped by -0.1%, the S&P 500 edged lower by -0.01%, while the Nasdaq Composite added 0.03%.

European stocks closed mixed, as investor sentiment was shaped by ongoing Ukraine summit talks and caution ahead of the Fed’s meeting. The FTSE 100 gained 0.21%, the Euro STOXX 600 rose 0.1%, while the CAC 40 fell 0.50% and the DAX declined 0.18%.

Asian stocks ended mixed on Monday, as strong gains in Japan were offset by weakness in South Korea and Hong Kong. The Nikkei 225 advanced 0.8%, while the KOSPI fell 1.5% and the Hang Seng declined 0.4%. The Shanghai Composite gained 0.8%.
