Tadawul Review:  

Tadawul All Share Index (TASI) fell on Monday, dropping by -71 points (-0.6%) to close at 10,885. The index opened 13 points lower than its previous close and initially continued to decline, then rose briefly before falling gradually throughout the session until the end. Overall, 19 out of 21 sectors closed in the red zone, while 177 shares fell and 72 rose. Banks (-1.2%), Utilities ‎‎(-1.3%), and Telecommunications (-0.7%) sectors contributed the most to the index fall. Stockwise, Al Rajhi Bank (-0.8%), ACWA Power (-1.5%), and Saudi National Bank (-0.9%) were the major contributors. The trading activity witnessed an increase in volume and value of 22% and 33%, respectively, to reach 547mn shares and SAR4.6bn in value traded.

 

 

Market Wrap International:

U.S. stocks closed mixed Monday, with the S&P 500 flat despite briefly hitting fresh highs. While a U.S.-EU trade deal eased some market worries, investors largely stayed cautious ahead of a pivotal week packed with earnings and the Fed’s rate decision. Top performing sectors included Energy (+1.15%), Information Technology (+0.77%), and Consumer Discretionary (+0.69%). The S&P 500 and NASDAQ indices experienced gains of 0.02% and 0.3%, respectively, whereas the Dow Jones Industrial Average saw a decrease of -0.1%.

European shares slipped, as investors digested the newly announced EU-U.S. trade agreement and weighed its broader market impact. The CAC 40 fell by -0.4%, the Euro STOXX 600 dropped by -0.2%, the DAX decreased by -1%, and the FTSE 100 saw a decline of -0.4%.

Asian markets traded mostly higher, lifted by optimism over the U.S.–EU trade agreement. Gains in Hong Kong, China, and South Korea helped lead the region, while Japan’s market slipped ahead of the Bank of Japan’s rate decision, with losses in paper, transport, and communication stocks weighing. The KOSPI gained by 0.4%, the SHCOMP advanced by 0.12%, and the Hang Seng experienced an increase of 0.7%, while the NIKKEI 225 posted a drop of -1.1%.
