Market Wrap International:

U.S. equities ended higher as easing oil prices and a rebound in risk appetite supported Wall Street, while stronger-than-expected inflation data reinforced expectations for a Federal Reserve rate hike and kept Treasury yields elevated. Technology and broader growth shares recovered from earlier pressure, although the prospect of tighter monetary policy continued to limit sentiment. Major U.S. markets finished higher, with the NASDAQ, S&P 500 and Dow Jones Industrial Average all advancing. Europe followed with a modest recovery as lower oil prices eased some immediate inflation pressure, although the European Central Bank’s recent rate hike and signals of further tightening kept bond yields and valuations in focus. Banks and telecommunications shares supported the broader market, while European equities still recorded a weak weekly performance amid persistent energy and inflation concerns. Asian markets are trading lower as renewed oil-supply concerns, rising rate expectations and weakness in AI-related shares weigh on risk appetite.
