Tadawul Review:
Tadawul All Share Index (TASI) rose on Tuesday (breaking its five-session losing streak ), rising by +67 points (+0.6%) to close at the 10,857 levels. TASI began the trading session with a 2-point increase and steadily climbed throughout the day until the session concluded. Overall, 14 out of 20 sectors closed in the green zone, while 129 shares rose and 80 fell. Banks (+1.3%), Energy (+0.4%), and Health care equipment and services (+0.8%) sectors contributed the most to the index rising. Stockwise, Al Rajhi Bank (+1.7%), Alinma Bank (+2.8%), and Aramco (+0.5%) were the major contributors. The trading activity witnessed an increase in volume by +19% to reach 263mn shares, while the value declined by -3% to reach SAR5.0bn in value traded.
In the U.S., the S&P 500 closed the session up by +1.3%, with all of the eleven listed sectors rising. The Nasdaq Composite registered a +2.4% rise as the U.S. Treasury yields edged lower, with the 10-year yield at 4.436.
In Europe, the Stoxx Europe 600 rose by +1.3% after the latest regional report showed the economy experienced a slight contraction on a quarterly basis. The FTSE-100 index closed on a positive note by +0.2%, with wages slightly growing less fast in the three months to September as sterling remained steady.
In Asia, markets rose as investors became wary of the intervention by the Bank of Japan after the plunge in the yen and China's decision to curb the potential impact by ordering local governments to halt "problematic". The Chinese indices were (Shanghai Composite: +0.3% while Hang Seng: -0.2%), and the benchmarks in Japan showed a positive performance (Topix: 0.4% and Nikkei 225: 0.3%).
