Market Wrap International:
U.S. equities ended firmer as stabilising Treasury yields and selective strength in industrials supported a mild risk-on tone, with investors also digesting mixed consumer signals and a volatile rebound in crypto-linked assets. Technology and cyclical names benefited from the improved rate backdrop, while upbeat corporate commentary in the industrial space, including Boeing, added to sentiment. The S&P 500 rose 0.2%, the Dow Jones Industrial Average gained 0.4%, and the NASDAQ advanced 0.6%.
European equities advanced modestly as banking strength and selective industrial gains offset weakness in some French names, while sentiment broadly followed the constructive tone from Wall Street. Trading remained relatively narrow, with flows tilting toward defensives and modest support from corporate updates across the region. The FTSE 100 slightly fall, the DAX rose 0.5%, the CAC 40 slipped -0.3%, and the EURO STOXX 600 edged 0.1%.
Asian markets were mixed as South Korea outperformed on strong tech and semiconductor buying, while mainland China lagged amid profit-taking and caution ahead of upcoming policy signals. Hong Kong saw selective interest in consumer and technology shares, and Japan traded broadly steady as currency and bond-market moves kept activity contained. The SHCOMP fell -0.4%, South Korea’s KOSPI gained 1.9%, the Nikkei 225 slightly increased, and the Hang Seng rose 0.2%.
