Market Wrap International:

U.S. equities ended mixed in a shortened trading week as investors assessed the Federal Reserve’s decision to keep interest rates unchanged while signaling a cautious stance on inflation and future policy moves. Market sentiment was also influenced by easing energy prices and improving conditions in global oil shipping routes, which helped support risk appetite, while technology and AI-related stocks continued to attract selective buying interest.

European equities ended lower as weakness in mining shares and softer commodity prices weighed on sentiment, while investors remained cautious amid ongoing Middle East tensions and their potential impact on inflation and growth. Energy stocks outperformed on firmer oil prices, but declines in travel, leisure, and basic resources sectors offset those gains. The FTSE 100 fell ‎‎-0.4%, the DAX declined -0.2%, the CAC 40 dropped -0.6%, and the EURO STOXX 600 slipped -0.2%.

Asian markets are trading with a mixed tone as investors continue to balance optimism from improved global risk sentiment and lower oil prices against the implications of tighter monetary policy and currency volatility. Japanese equities were supported by technology and export-oriented shares, while South Korean stocks traded slightly lower after recent strong gains. The Nikkei 225 rose 0.3%, the KOSPI declined -0.1%, while the SHCOMP and Hang Seng were closed.
