Tadawul Review:
Tadawul All Share Index (TASI) rose on Monday, with a slight gain of 3 points (+0.03%) to close at 12,106. TASI started the session positively, opening with a rise of 4 points, but then displayed fluctuations throughout the session until the close. In general, 7 out of 21 sectors closed in the green zone, and 92 shares rose while 133 fell. Banks (+1.0%), Real Estate (+0.7%), and Retailing (+0.5%) sectors contributed the most to the index rise. Stockwise, Saudi National Bank (+2.4%), Al Rajhi Bank (+0.6%), and Alinma Bank (+1.6%) were the major contributors. The trading activity witnessed an increase in volume and value by 79% and 23%, respectively, to reach 939mn shares and SAR7.5bn in value traded.
Following Donald Trump’s win in the U.S. presidential election, investors showed a strong appetite for U.S. assets, positioning U.S. stocks to build on their recent rise to new highs. The S&P 500 and the NASDAQ both climbed by 0.1%, and the Dow Jones Industrial Average gained 0.7%.
European stocks started the week in positive territory on Monday, as a full schedule of data releases began and investors examined what Donald Trump’s presidency might mean for the markets. The CAC 40 and DAX rose by 1.2%, and the FTSE 100 increased by 0.7%.
