Market Wrap International:

Investors in the US markets are approaching Monday’s session with cautious optimism amid recent economic updates and corporate earnings reports. Key indicators like retails sales and industrial production figures will be closely watched, alongside geopolitical developments. Expectations point to moderate volatility as market sentiment balances economic signals with concerns over interest rates and global stability. The Dow Jones and S&P 500 indices recorded a 1.6% and 0.9% increase, respectively, as a weekly change.

Europe's primary stock markets gained ground last week, supported by optimism over an expected US interest rate cut in September. The FTSE 100 and Euro STOXX indices recorded modest gains of 0.6% and 1.4%, respectively, driven by positive economic data and strong corporate earnings. This week, the UK market will focus on upcoming inflation data and any indications from the Bank of England regarding future monetary policy adjustments.

In Asia, investors are closely monitoring the impact of the China Securities Regulatory Commission's decision to tighten rules on short selling and high-frequency trades. The aim is to prevent improper arbitrage and maintain market stability. Last week, major Asian indices had mixed performance, with the KOSPI declining by -0.2% and the Nikkei 225 rising by 0.7%.
