Market Wrap International:

U.S. equities ended lower as fading expectations for near-term Federal Reserve rate cuts and renewed pressure across AI-linked and semiconductor names kept risk appetite subdued. Cautious commentary from Fed officials dampened hopes for a December adjustment, while investors remained wary ahead of upcoming macro data still distorted by the shutdown. The S&P 500 slipped 0.9%, the Dow fell 1.2%, and the Nasdaq declined 0.8%.

European markets tracked the global risk-off tone, with weakness centered in sectors most exposed to global demand and technology. Softer momentum indicators across the region, combined with renewed fiscal uncertainty in the U.K. that pushed borrowing costs higher, added to pressure on major benchmarks. The FTSE 100 dropped 0.2%, the DAX fell 1.2%, the CAC declined 0.6%, and the Euro Stoxx 600 lost 0.5%.

Asian equities were mixed as subdued Chinese industrial and investment data weighed on sentiment across export-sensitive and high-multiple tech names. South Korea outperformed on selective strength in large-cap technology, while Japan and Hong Kong were held back by broader caution surrounding global growth signals. The SHCOMP fell 0.5%, the KOSPI rose 1.9%, the Nikkei 225 slipped 0.1%, and the Hang Seng lost 0.7%.
