Market Wrap International:

The global equity indices showed similar trends of sideways moves as depicted in the past few sessions. The wait and see game over the central banks’ policy decision next week has made the markets more directionless. The data from Chin and the U.S too did not require any major reaction by the investors. In the U.S, the equity benchmarks, S&P 500 and Nasdaq Composite moved in a narrow range and closed with ‏0.4‏% and ‏1.3‏% losses. Energy and Real Estate‏ ‏were the major performers on the S&P 500 Index.

In Europe, the Stoxx Europe 600 Index too was broadly unchanged and investors discounted the positive results. The country level indices too were broadly steady.

In Asia, the export data from China carried a negative surprise for investors. However, the impact of the negative surprise on the equity indices was rather muted due to expectations of new stimulus measures by the government. Hang Seng (0.8%), and TAIEX (+1%) were the major gainers while Topix (+1.3%) dropped on the profit taking.
