Tadawul Review:

Tadawul All Share Index (TASI) fell on Thursday, dropping by 121 points (-0.1%) to close at 12,112. The index opened slightly lower than its previous close and experienced a sharp initial drop in the early minutes, eventually closing at its lowest point of the day. Overall, 17 out of 21 sectors closed in the red zone, while 172 shares fell and 69 rose. Banks (-1.0%), Materials (-1.4%), and Utilities (-2.3%) sectors contributed the most to the index fall. Stockwise, ACWA Power (-2.7%), Al Rajhi Bank (-1.0%), and Saudi National Bank (-1.7%) were the major contributors. The trading activity witnessed an increase in volume of 40% to reach 303mn shares, and the value increased by 44% to reach SAR8.3bn in value traded.

 

 

Market Wrap International:

After a volatile session, all major U.S. indexes closed higher on Friday, overcoming political uncertainty at the White House and renewed tariff threats from President Donald Trump that stirred concerns about economic stability. The S&P 500 gained by 1.6%, the Nasdaq rose by 1.6%, and the Dow Jones Industrial Average advanced by 1.4%. In the S&P 500, financials led gains with a 2.07% increase, followed by consumer discretionary at 1.80% and information technology at 1.71%.

European markets notched their 10th consecutive weekly gain on Friday, maintaining their strong start to the year. However, investor sentiment turned cautious toward the end of the week as trade tensions resurfaced following Trump’s renewed tariff threats. The CAC 40 rose by 0.1%, the Euro STOXX 600 advanced by 0.01%, and the FTSE 100 edged up by 0.6%.

In Asia, markets closed lower on Friday as investor sentiment weakened after Trump confirmed that tariffs on Mexican and Canadian imports would take effect next week. The Hang Seng fell by -3.3%, the SHCOMP declined by -2.0%, the Nikkei 225 lost -2.9%, and the KOSPI retreated by -3.4%.
