Market Wrap International:
Major markets finished with U.S. equities reaching record highs on the last close as broad strength in chipmakers and other sectors lifted key benchmarks, supported by a softer-than-expected jobs report that tempered immediate rate-cut expectations and underpinned investor confidence. The rally in the U.S. was led by technology and cyclical names, and followed strong weekly gains, reflecting robust risk appetites heading into the corporate earnings season. European major markets also finished higher into their most recent session, with broad regional indices reaching notable milestones and sentiment buoyed by resilient domestic economic data even as global political and policy risks persist. Asia’s major markets were mixed into their last closes, with regional equities responding to global risk cues and economic signals, while some markets found support from stronger export activity and corporate news flows.
