Tadawul Review:

Tadawul All Share Index (TASI) fell on Tuesday, dropping by 47 points (-0.4%) to close at 12,424. The index opened with little change from the previous close, then declined significantly during the first few hours of trading. It rose slightly around the middle of the session but then fell again towards the end. Overall, 12 out of 21 sectors closed in the red zone, while 155 shares fell and 69 rose. Banks (-1.1%), Utilities (-0.7%), and Telecommunications (-0.5%) sectors contributed the most to the index fall. Stockwise, Al Rajhi Bank (-1.5%), ACWA Power (-0.9%), and Riyad Bank (-1.7%) were the major contributors. The trading activity witnessed an increase in volume and value of 14% and 7%, respectively, to reach 315mn shares and SAR6.3bn in value traded.

 

 

Market Wrap International:

U.S. stocks struggled for direction Tuesday as traders weighed fresh tariff moves from the White House and upcoming economic reports. Consumer staples led gains in the S&P 500, rising 0.91%, followed by energy at 0.76% and real estate at 0.56%. The S&P 500 and Dow jones Industrial rose by 0.03% & 0.3%, respectively. In contrast, the NASDAQ declined by -0.4%.

Despite trade uncertainty, European stocks closed at record levels, with investors weighing the EU’s potential response to U.S. tariffs. The CAC 40 rose by 0.3%, the DAX gained by 0.6%, the Euro STOXX 600 advanced by 0.2%, and the FTSE 100 edged up by 0.1%.

Asian markets were mixed on Tuesday as investors reacted to President Trump’s approval of 25% tariffs on steel and aluminum imports, with concerns over potential further measures. The Hang Seng dropped by -1.1%, the SHCOMP declined by -0.1%, while the KOSPI increased by 0.7%.
