Market Wrap International:

Markets slid on Friday after President Trump ramped up trade tensions, taking aim at Apple and threatening steep new tariffs on the European Union—potentially as high as 50%. His comments raised concerns over possible levies on foreign-made iPhones, unsettling investors. Tech stocks were among the hardest hit, with Technology Hardware & Equipment falling 2.43%, Semiconductors down 1.16%, and the overall Information Technology sector slipping 1.33%. The Nasdaq declined by        -1%, the S&P 500 fell by -0.7%, and the Dow Jones Industrial Average dropped by -0.6%.

European stocks sank after President Trump escalated trade tensions, announcing plans to impose a 50% tariff on EU goods starting June 1. The euro retreated and euro zone bond yields dropped sharply. The FTSE 100 decreased by -0.2%, the DAX fell by -1.5%, the Euro STOXX 600 dropped by -0.9% and the CAC 40 declined by -1.7%.

Asian markets traded mixed, taking in the uneven signals from Wall Street. A pullback in U.S. Treasury yields, supported by stronger U.S. economic data and remarks from a Federal Reserve official pointing to possible rate cuts later this year, helped temper investor sentiment across the region. The Hang Seng increased by 0.2% and the Nikkei 225 advanced by 0.5%, while the KOSPI dropped by -0.1% and the SHCOMP fell by -0.9%.
