The index opened 4 points above its previous close, but it recovered some losses before the close; however, it still ended in the red zone. Overall, 15 out of 21 sectors closed in the red zone, and 88 shares rose while 173 fell. Media and Entertainment (-2.2%), Consumer Services (-1.4%), and Software & Services (-1.2%) sectors contributed the most to the index decline. Stockwise, Saudi Aramco (-1.1%), BSF (-2.4%), and SAB (-2.1%) were the major contributors to the index decline. The trading activity witnessed an increase in volume and value of +5% and +2%, respectively, to reach 236mn shares and SAR 5.0bn in value traded.
