Market Wrap International:
Major markets finished mixed at the latest close as renewed geopolitical tensions and firmer energy prices tempered overall risk appetite while preventing a broader pullback. U.S. equities ended lower, pressured by weakness in technology and other growth-oriented sectors, while energy shares provided relative support amid the rise in crude prices and a cautious tone across cyclicals. European equities ended with a more resilient performance, supported by strength in energy and selective financials even as exporters and industrial names reflected the softer global backdrop. Asian markets closed with uneven moves, with gains in energy-linked and defensive shares offsetting pressure in export-oriented sectors as investors reacted to Wall Street’s tone and ongoing regional developments.
