Tadawul All Share Index (TASI) fell on Tuesday, dropping by 22 points (-0.2%) to close at 10,770. TASI started the session on a negative note, opening 8 points lower than the previous close, then experienced some fluctuations before dropping by the end of the session. Overall, 14 out of 21 sectors closed in the red zone, while 159 shares fell and 94 roses. Banks (-0.5%), Materials (-0.8%), and Real Estate (-0.7%) sectors contributed the most to the index fall. Stockwise, Maaden (-1.8%), Riyad Bank (-1.8%), and Saudi National Bank (-0.7%) were the major contributors. The trading activity witnessed a decrease in volume and value by -12%, to reach 234mn shares and SAR4.0bn in value traded.

U.S. stocks climbed to record highs on Tuesday, with the S&P 500 and Nasdaq rising after cooler-than-expected inflation data boosted hopes for a September Fed rate cut, lifting sectors such as Communication Services (+1.79%), Information Technology (+1.41%), and Financials (+1.23%). The S&P 500 rose by 1.1%, NASDAQ gained by 1.4%, and the Dow Jones Industrial Average posted an increase of 1.1%.
European stocks rose, lifted by the extension of the U.S.-China tariff truce and broader global optimism, while investors awaited U.S. inflation data for clues on price pressures and monetary policy direction. The FTSE 100 gained by 0.2%, the CAC 40 increased by 0.7%, and the Euro STOXX 600 climbed by 0.2%. In contrast, the DAX saw a decline of -0.2%.
Asian markets mostly advanced, with Japan’s Nikkei 225 hitting a record high after the U.S. extended its tariff truce with China. The SHCOMP gained by 0.5%, the Hang Seng experienced a gain of 0.3%, and the NIKKEI 225 advanced by 2.1%, while the KOSPI dropped by -0.5%.
