Tadawul Review:

Tadawul All Share Index (TASI) fell on Wednesday, dropping by 16 points (-0.1%) to close at 12,318. The index opened trading 15 points below its previous close, then fluctuated throughout the session before closing in the red zone. Overall, 16 out of 21 sectors closed in the red zone, while 189 shares fell and 49 rose. Real Estate (-0.9%), Food and beverages (-1.1%), and Utilities (-0.9%) sectors contributed the most to the index fall. Stockwise, ACWA Power (-1.1%), Sal Saudi Logistics Services (-7.9%), and Jabal Omar (-2.3%) were the major contributors. The trading activity witnessed an increase in volume and value of 2% and 4%, respectively, to reach 237mn shares and SAR6.0bn in value traded.

 

 

Market Wrap International:

Wednesday saw U.S. stocks mostly climb higher, with the S&P 500 hitting a fresh record, shrugging off President Trump’s new 25% tariff announcement while investors pored over Federal Reserve minutes for hints on upcoming policy adjustments. Despite the looming tariffs and the Fed’s caution, the market held firm. Among the sectors in the S&P 500, Health care led with a 1.26% increase, followed by Consumer staples at 0.79%, and Energy with a ‎‎0.70% gain. The S&P 500 advanced by 0.2%, the NASDAQ slight increase of 0.1%, and Dow Jones Industrial rose by 0.2%.

The European market ended the day in the red, influenced by a batch of earnings results and an unexpectedly elevated U.K. inflation number. The CAC 40 fell by -1.2%, DAX declined by -1.8%, the Euro STOXX 600 dipped by -0.9%, while the FTSE 100 saw a decreased of -0.6%.

In Asia, Japanese stocks fell, led by losses in Rubber, Marine Transport, and Retail sectors. Asian markets were mixed as Trump expanded tariff threats and traders weighed US-Russia talks. Regional investors struggled to sustain momentum after Wall Street’s record close, with Hong Kong tech stocks hit by Baidu's weak earnings. The Hang Seng dipped by -0.1%, SHCOMP increased by 0.8%, NIKKEI 225 fell by -0.3%, and KOSPI advanced by ‎‎1.7%.
