Market Wrap International:
Global equities ended last week under mixed pressures, as weak U.S. labor data heightened concerns over slowing growth while reinforcing expectations of a Federal Reserve rate cut this month. U.S. markets slipped, with Treasury yields retreating and gold extending its record rally, while in Europe sentiment remained fragile amid exporter weakness and political risks in France that pushed bond yields higher. In Asia, confidence was stronger, supported by hopes of Chinese stimulus and robust Japanese wage growth, with equities rallying as the yen weakened following Prime Minister Ishiba’s surprise resignation.
