Daily Market Monitor 19-01-2025

Tadawul Review: 

Tadawul All Share Index (TASI) rose on Thursday, gaining 44 points (+0.4%) to close at 12,256. The trading session began positively, with a rise of 24 points compared to the previous close. It then declined until the middle of the day but remained in positive territory and gradually increased until the end. In general, 10 out of 21 sectors closed in the green zone, and 104 shares rose while 129 fell. Banks ‎‎(+0.7%), Materials (+1.0%), and Food and beverages  (+1.2%) sectors contributed the most to the index rise. Stockwise, Aramco ‎‎(+0.5%), Al Rajhi Bank (+0.5%), and Saudi National Bank (+1.3%) were the major contributors. The trading activity witnessed a decrease in volume and value of -1% and -14%, respectively, to reach 326mn shares and SAR6.1bn in value traded.

 

 

 

Market Wrap International:

Stocks soared to their highest weekly gains since the November presidential election, with Donald Trump’s inauguration on the horizon. The Dow Jones Industrial climbed by 0.8%, the S&P 500 advanced by 1.0%, and the NASDAQ rose by 1.5%.

European markets ended Friday on a positive note, with London’s FTSE 100 closing at a record high, while the DAX also hit fresh highs this week, fueled by hopes of looser monetary policy and robust corporate earnings. The CAC 40 increased by 1.0%, the DAX rose 1.2%, the Euro STOXX 600 climbed 0.7%, and the FTSE 100 rose by 1.4%.

Friday saw mixed trading across Asia-Pacific markets as investors evaluated a wave of economic data released from China. Key indices such as the SHCOMP gained 0.2%, the Hang Seng rose by 0.3%. In contrast, the KOSPI fell by -0.2% and NIKKEI 225 dropped by -0.3%.
