Tadawul All Share Index (TASI) fell on Thursday by -42 points (-0.3%) to close at the 12,566 level. At the start of the session, TASI exhibited a positive opening, with an increase of 75 points. However, it subsequently declined, reaching an intraday low before gradually reducing its losses. In general, 18 out of 21 sectors closed in the red zone, while 167 shares fell and 53 rose. Media (-8.5%), Real Estate (-2.0%), and Utilities (-1.3%) sectors contributed the most to the index fall. Stockwise, Al Rajhi Bank (-1.4%), Saudi Research (-10.0%), and ACWA Power (-1.6%) were the major contributors. The trading activity witnessed an increase in volume and value of +44% and +43%, respectively, to reach 424mn shares and SAR10.5bn in value traded.
In the U.S., Investors digested the latest economic data as the S&P 500 wrapped up the week with modest gains of (0.1%) on Thursday, marking its most robust first-quarter performance in the past five years. The Dow Jones experienced a surge of 0.1%%, while the Nasdaq Composite fell by 0.3%.
In Europe, The STOXX 600 index ended Thursday at a historic high by (0.2%), marking its second consecutive quarter of gains. Notably, retailer JD Sports recorded its strongest performance in over four years on the same day.The FTSE 100 also experienced modest gains of 0.2%.
Asia's markets experienced a positive session on Friday. Japan's Nikkei index rose by 0.5%, led by notable chip-related companies, achieved a record fiscal-year gain in points, primarily due to significant foreign buying. The TOPIX index also saw a 0.6% increase. the Shanghai Composite Index in China climbed by 1.0%.
