Market Wrap International:

U.S. equities ended lower as renewed concerns over the inflationary impact of higher oil prices and ongoing Middle East tensions weighed on investor sentiment, while Treasury yields remained elevated ahead of a busy week of major technology earnings. Energy stocks outperformed as crude prices stayed firm, but weakness in large-cap technology and other growth shares dragged the broader market lower. The S&P 500 declined -0.2%, the Dow Jones Industrial Average fell -0.6%, and the NASDAQ eased -0.05%.

European equities ended mixed as investors balanced stronger energy shares against weakness in travel and consumer-related stocks after higher oil prices renewed inflation concerns ahead of this week's European Central Bank meeting. Market participants also remained cautious before the start of the U.S. and European earnings season, limiting broader risk appetite despite resilience in selected industrial and technology names. The FTSE 100 declined -0.7%, the DAX gained 0.1%, the CAC 40 edged up 0.02%, and the EURO STOXX 600 fell -0.3%.

Asian markets are trading mixed as easing oil prices and hopes for diplomatic progress in the Middle East supported risk appetite across parts of the region, while investors continued to position ahead of major U.S. technology earnings. Hong Kong and mainland Chinese equities advanced on improved sentiment, whereas South Korean shares remained under pressure following the recent selloff in semiconductor stocks, and Japanese equities traded little changed. The SHCOMP gained 0.9%, the Hang Seng rose 2.4%, the KOSPI declined -4.5%, and the Nikkei 225 was closed.
