Market Wrap International:
U.S. equities eked out modest gains amid renewed investor focus on a likely Federal Reserve rate cut, as softer inflation and economic data helped underpin expectations for easier monetary policy, while technology and industrial sectors helped offset weakness in defensive names. European shares finished the week roughly flat as the broader market weighed mixed global signals and cautious sentiment ahead of key U.S. data, with gains in autos and parts partially offsetting weakness in defensives and interest-rate sensitive sectors. Asian markets traded cautiously as investors weighed the Bank of Japan’s signals on a potential rate increase, with a weaker yen pressuring exporter. Chinese export data offered some support, but overall risk appetite remained muted amid regional policy uncertainty and global demand concerns.
