Tadawul All Share Index (TASI) fell on Sunday for the third day, decreasing by 189 points (-1.6%) to close at the 11,769 level. TASI started the session positivly, opening with an increase of 19 points and started to decreased gradually until the end of the session. Overall, 19 out of 21 sectors closed in the red zone, while 213 shares fell and 19 rose. Banks (-2.3%), Materials (-2.1%), and Real Estate (-3.3%) sectors contributed the most to the index fall. Stockwise, Al Rajhi Bank (-4.8%), Elm Co. (-6.8%), and Maaden (-2.9%) were the major contributors. The trading activity witnessed a decline in volume and value of -4% and -14%, respectively, to reach 823mn shares and SAR6.2bn in value traded.
As a weekly average, U.S. indices showed mixed results: the Dow Jones rose by 0.15%, while the S&P 500 dipped -0.09%, and the NASDAQ fell by -0.40%. The FOMC Meeting Minutes will be released on Wednesday, October 9, providing insights into the Federal Reserve's recent policy discussions.
As a weekly average, European indices displayed varied performance: the DAX rose by 0.38%, while the FTSE 100 and EURO STOXX 600 saw slight declines of -0.12% and -0.35%, respectively. The CAC faced the largest drop, falling by -1.06%.
As a weekly average, Asian indices showed a stark contrast in performance. The SHCOMP surged by an impressive 14.29%, while the Hang Seng also saw significant gains of 13.03%. In contrast, the KOSPI dipped by -2.07%, with the Nikkei 225 and TOPIX experiencing smaller declines of -0.38% and -0.34%, respectively.
