Tadawul All Share Index (TASI) rose on Wednesday, gaining 39 points (+0.4%) to close at 10,575. The index opened 14 points below its previous close, fluctuated during the session, and ended with a strong upward move, reaching its peak for the day. Overall, 18 out of 21 sectors closed in the green zone, and 179 shares rose while 74 fell. Energy (+0.3%), Health care equipment and services (+1.2%), and Telecommunications (+0.8%) sectors contributed the most to the index rise. Stockwise, Etihad Etisalat (+2.1%), Aramco (+0.3%), and ACWA Power (+1.1%) were the major contributors. The trading activity witnessed a decrease in volume and value of -5% and -4%, respectively, to reach 170mn shares and SAR3.6bn in value traded.
Market Wrap International:
U.S. equities ended higher as investors rotated into smaller-cap cyclicals and picked up lagging tech names after mixed earnings, while Treasury yields eased and the dollar slipped. The pullback in yields supported financials and industrials even as some large-cap AI names trimmed gains, leaving the NASDAQ up 0.2%, the S&P 500 up 0.3% and the Dow Jones Industrial Average up 0.9%.
European equities mixed after Wall Street’s move; European equities ended with selective gains as investors digested corporate updates and awaited central-bank commentary ahead of next week’s Fed decision. Miners and energy stocks provided support in London while parts of the continent saw modest weakness, with the FTSE 100 down -0.1%, the DAX down -0.1%, the CAC 40 up 0.2% and the EURO STOXX 600 up 0.1%.
Asian markets were mixed as the Nikkei and KOSPI advanced on chip and export-related strength, while the Shanghai Composite and Hang Seng underperformed amid cautious domestic data and profit-taking in Chinese tech. Japan’s Nikkei 225 was up 1.1%, South Korea’s KOSPI rose 1.0%, China’s SHCOMP slipped -0.5% and Hong Kong’s Hang Seng fell -1.3%.
