Tadawul All Share Index (TASI) fell on Tuesday, dropping by -23 points (-0.2%) to close at 10,875. The index opened with little change from its previous close, experiencing some fluctuations, while the TASI index trended downward throughout the session. Overall, 7 out of 21 sectors closed in the red zone, while 110 shares fell and 135 rose. Banks (-0.6%), Utilities (-3.0%), and Food and beverages (-0.9%) sectors contributed the most to the index fall. Stockwise, ACWA Power (-3.9%), Al Rajhi Bank (-0.8%), and Bank AlBilad (-2.2%) were the major contributors. The trading activity witnessed an increase in volume and value of 51% and 84% respectively, to reach 381mn shares and SAR7.3bn in value traded.
Market Wrap International:
U.S. equities ended higher, with industrials (+1.0%), financials (+0.8%), health care (+0.6%), and technology (+0.5%) advancing, while energy (-0.2%), communication services (-0.3%), and consumer staples (-0.5%) declined. Corporate news, including Boeing’s aircraft order and EchoStar’s spectrum deal, added to market moves as attention stayed on the Federal Reserve. The S&P 500 rose 0.4%, Dow Jones 0.3%, and Nasdaq 0.4%.
European markets closed lower as higher bond yields and political concerns pressured sentiment. The FTSE 100 fell -0.6%, DAX -0.5%, CAC -1.7%, and Euro STOXX 600 -0.8%.
Asian markets also ended lower amid global policy uncertainty. The Shanghai Composite slipped -0.4%, Kospi -1.0%, Nikkei 225 -1.0%, and Hang Seng -1.2%.
