The Nasdaq climbed by 0.02%, the S&P 500 rose by 0.1%, and the Dow Jones Industrial Average gained by 0.3%.
European stocks ended largely flat on Monday, snapping a five-week winning streak as sentiment was dampened by a surprise U.S. credit rating downgrade. The Euro STOXX 600 increased by 0.1%, the DAX rose by 0.7%, and the FTSE 100 went up by 0.2%. However, the CAC 40 fell by -0.04%.
Asian stocks declined on Monday alongside the dollar after Moody’s stripped the U.S. of its last gold-standard sovereign rating. In contrast, the KOSPI fell by -0.9%, the Hang Seng dropped by -0.1%, and the Nikkei 225 declined by -0.7%.
