Tadawul Review: 

Tadawul All Share Index (TASI) rose on Tuesday, gaining 36 points (+0.3%) to close at 12,037. The trading session began positively, rising by 30 points compared to the previous close, and continued to gradually increase until the end of the session. In general, 17 out of 21 sectors closed in the green zone, and 167 shares rose while 63 fell. Banks (+0.3%), Materials (+0.5%), and Energy (+0.5%) sectors contributed the most to the index rise. Stockwise, Al Rajhi Bank (+0.8%), Aramco (+0.5%), and Saudi Research (+2.8%) were the major contributors. The trading activity witnessed a decrease in volume by -15% to reach 335mn shares, while the value increased by 12% to reach SAR5.7bn in value traded.

 

 

Market Wrap International: 

After Tuesday's close, U.S. stocks ended lower, with losses in the Technology, Consumer Goods, and Consumer Services sectors leading the decline. Still, the markets capped off a remarkable 2024 by reaching a rare milestone, one that has only been seen on a few occasions. The NASDAQ Composite dropped by -0.9%, the S&P 500 declined by -0.4%, and the Dow Jones Industrial Average saw a -0.1% decrease. 

European markets wrapped up Tuesday’s session with gains, as they gradually gained momentum during the shortened trading hours in preparation for the New Year holiday. The CAC 40 rose by 0.9%, the FTSE 100 advanced by 0.6%, and the Euro STOXX 600 edged up by 0.5%, indicating a positive trend across European markets.

China’s weaker-than-expected manufacturing growth led to declines across Asia-Pacific markets on Tuesday. Key indices displayed mixed results, as the Hang Seng gained 0.1% and the SHCOMP declined by -1.6%. Meanwhile, the NIKKEI 225 and KOSPI were both closed.
