Market Wrap International:
U.S. equities climbed as strong tech and AI-linked earnings supported mega-caps, even as Fed minutes showed policy makers remain divided on the timing of rate cuts. Monetary-policy uncertainty limited broader conviction, but growth names still outperformed. The S&P 500 rose +1.0%, the Dow +1.1%, and the Nasdaq +0.9%.
European markets were mixed as subdued growth data, weak PMIs, and structural competitiveness concerns kept sentiment cautious. Limited catalysts and sensitivity to global tech valuations also constrained gains. The FTSE 100 added +0.1%, the DAX fell -0.8%, and the Euro Stoxx 600 slipped -0.3%.
Asian equities declined sharply, pressured by weak external demand signals, including softer Chinese export data, and broad risk-off flows across Korea and Japan despite isolated semiconductor strength. Regional PMIs and currency pressures further weighed on sentiment. The SHCOMP dropped -2.4%, the KOSPI -3.8%, the Nikkei 225 -2.4%, and the Hang Seng -2.4%.
