Tadawul All Share Index (TASI) rose on Wednesday, gaining 78 points (+0.7%) to close at 12,093. The trading session began on a positive note with a 39-point increase at the opening and continued to rise during the first hour. However, the index then started to decline before rebounding toward the end of the session. In general, 13 out of 21 sectors closed in the green zone, and 168 shares rose while 60 fell. Banks (+1.6%), Materials (+1.3%), and Capital goods (+1.4%) sectors contributed the most to the index rise. Stockwise, Al Rajhi Bank (+2.3%), Maaden (+4.1%), and Bank AlBilad (+3.1%) were the major contributors. The trading activity witnessed a decrease in volume by -0.4% to reach 981mn shares, while the value increased by 32% to reach SAR7.5bn in value traded.
U.S. stock index futures made modest gains on Tuesday, bouncing back slightly from recent sharp losses as investors prepared for a closely contested presidential election and the Federal Reserve’s upcoming meeting. The Nasdaq Composite surged 1.4%, the S&P 500 gained 1.2%, and the Dow Jones Industrial Average advanced 1%.
European markets showed little movement on Tuesday, with investors worldwide focusing on the U.S. presidential election. The CAC 40 rose 0.5%, the DAX gained 0.6%, and the broader Euro STOXX 600 ticked up 0.1%. In contrast, the FTSE 100 slipped -0.1%.
Asian markets saw modest gains on Tuesday as investors approached trading carefully, with heightened volatility surrounding the upcoming U.S. presidential election. In Asia, the SHCOMP advanced 2.3%, the Hang Seng climbed 2.1%, and the NIKKEI 225 saw a modest rise of 1.1%. In contrast, the KOSPI dipped -0.5%.
