The index opened positively, up by 2 points from the previous close, and initially rose in the first few minutes before declining for the remainder of the session. Overall, 14 out of 21 sectors closed in the red zone, while 137 shares fell and 85 rose. Telecommunications (-0.9%), Media (-4.3%), and Food and beverages (-0.9%) sectors contributed the most to the index fall. Stockwise, Saudi Research (-5.4%), Almarai (-1.2%), and Saudi Telecom (-0.7%) were the major contributors. The trading activity witnessed a decrease in volume and value of -24% and -18%, respectively, to reach 176mn shares and SAR4.1bn in value traded.
