Market Wrap International:

U.S. equities ended higher as investors returned to large-cap technology and semiconductor shares following recent weakness, while easing oil prices and stabilizing Treasury yields improved broader risk sentiment ahead of key earnings updates. Travel and growth-oriented sectors outperformed, with chipmakers leading gains as markets positioned for upcoming AI-related results, although investors remained attentive to inflation expectations and Federal Reserve policy signals. The S&P 500 gained 1.1%, the Dow Jones Industrial Average rose 1.3%, and the NASDAQ advanced 1.5%.

European equities ended higher in a broad-based rally as technology and defence shares led gains, while improved global risk appetite and expectations surrounding AI-related earnings supported cyclical sectors across the region. Semiconductor-linked stocks advanced strongly following optimism ahead of key U.S. chip earnings, while industrials and financials also contributed to the positive tone despite continued monitoring of inflation and energy market developments. The FTSE 100 increased 1.0%, the DAX rose 1.4%, the CAC 40 gained 1.7%, and the EURO STOXX 600 advanced 1.5%.

Asian markets ended lower as rising global bond yields and continued caution toward technology and export-oriented sectors pressured regional sentiment, while investors also monitored the impact of elevated energy prices linked to Middle East tensions on inflation and policy expectations. Semiconductor and large-cap growth shares remained under pressure across North Asia, with Chinese markets showing relative resilience despite weaker risk appetite in Hong Kong and Japan. Japan’s Nikkei 225 fell -1.2%, South Korea’s KOSPI declined -0.9%, Hong Kong’s Hang Seng slipped -0.6%, and China’s SHCOMP edged lower by -0.2%.
