Tadawul Review:

Tadawul All Share Index (TASI) fell on Tuesday, slipping 108 points (-1.0%) to close at 10,382. The index opened 29 points below its previous close and continued to fluctuate in a downward trend until the end of the day. In general, 20 out of 21 sectors closed in the red zone, while 237 shares fell and 24 rose. Materials (-2.0%), Banks (-0.4%), and Real Estate (-2.3%) sectors contributed the most to the index fall. Stockwise, Maaden (-2.6%), ACWA Power (-2.2%), and Aramco (-0.3%) were the major contributors. The trading activity witnessed an increase in volume and value of 16% and 21%, respectively, to reach 165mn shares and SAR3.2bn in value traded.

 

 

Market Wrap International:

U.S. equities ended lower as holiday-thin trading weighed on major benchmarks and technology and financial sectors lagged. Investors digested the Federal Reserve’s latest minutes indicating a cautious policy outlook after recent rate cuts, which kept sentiment muted. The S&P 500 declined -0.1%, the Dow Jones Industrial Average slipped -0.2% and the NASDAQ dropped -‎‎0.2%, reflecting modest losses across broad market segments while small-caps underperformed.

European equities ended higher with broad gains across major national markets as investors embraced defensive and commodity-linked sectors amid thin year-end volumes. The FTSE ‎‎100 rose 0.8%, the DAX increased 0.6%, the CAC 40 advanced ‎‎0.7% and the EURO STOXX 600 climbed 0.6%, with miners and banking stocks among the stronger performers ahead of the New Year holiday.

Asian markets are trading mixed in a session with several exchanges affected by year-end holidays, but available data shows divergences across regional indices. The Shanghai Composite SHCOMP is essentially slightly fell -0.004%, South Korea’s KOSPI eased -0.2% and Japan’s Nikkei 225 declined -‎‎0.4%, while Hong Kong’s Hang Seng climbed 0.9% as local sentiment improved.
