Tadawul Review:

Tadawul Review: Tadawul All Share Index (TASI) rose on Tuesday, gaining 63 points (+0.5%) to close at 12,173. The trading session began on a positive note with a 14-point increase at the opening and continued to rise throughout the session, reaching its highest point at the end of the day. This move was the largest since December 30. In general, 20 out of 21 sectors closed in the green zone, and 150 shares rose while 87 fell. Banks (+0.6%), Utilities (+1.1%), and Health care equipment and services (+1.2%) sectors contributed the most to the index rise. Stockwise, ACWA Power (+1.2%), Riyad Bank (+1.8%), and Saudi National Bank (+0.8%) were the major contributors. The trading activity witnessed an increase in volume and value of 55% and 6%, respectively, to reach 376mn shares and SAR6.1bn in value traded.

 

 

 

Market Wrap International:

On Tuesday, U.S. stocks closed mixed as investors took in the first of two crucial inflation reports this week, which revealed that December's price increase was lower than anticipated. Another focus was a report suggesting the incoming Trump administration might raise tariffs more gradually to mitigate inflation. The Dow Jones Industrial climbed by 0.5%, the S&P 500 advanced by 0.1%, while the NASDAQ dropped by -0.2%.

After gaining earlier in the day, European markets ended mixed as investors worldwide assessed a weaker-than-expected U.S. producer price index. The CAC 40 increased by 0.2%, the DAX rose 0.7%, while the Euro STOXX 600 dropped -0.1%, and the FTSE 100 slipped by -0.3%.

 

Asian markets were mixed, as Chinese stocks climbed following news of a potential gradual U.S. tariff hike under Donald Trump, while steep losses in Japan’s stock market weighed on other regional indices. Key indices such as the SHCOMP gained 2.5%, the Hang Seng rose by 1.8%, and the KOSPI climbed by 0.3%. In contrast, the NIKKEI225 fell by          -1.8%.
