Market Wrap International:

U.S. markets closed mixed as investors weighed renewed trade tensions and cautious Federal Reserve signals. The Dow Jones gained 0.4% supported by industrial and defensive names, while the S&P 500 eased 0.2% and the Nasdaq fell 0.8% as profit-taking in technology and growth stocks reflected heightened sensitivity to policy and valuation risks.

European equities edged lower, constrained by lingering inflation pressures and weak external demand. The FTSE 100 advanced 0.1% on strength in energy shares, while the DAX declined 0.6%, the CAC 40 lost 0.2%, and the EURO STOXX 600 slipped 0.4%, as exporters and financials faced renewed headwinds from tight credit conditions and softer business sentiment.

Asian markets broadly retreated after the IMF cautioned about the risk of a “disorderly” correction in global assets. The Shanghai Composite and Kospi each fell 0.6%, the Nikkei 225 tumbled 2.6%, and the Hang Seng dropped 1.7%, with regional weakness driven by concerns over China’s growth outlook, yen appreciation, and continued foreign outflows.
