Market Wrap International:

U.S. equities ended sharply higher as a relief rally driven by easing Middle East tensions and a ceasefire announcement supported risk sentiment, while a sharp decline in oil prices helped ease inflation concerns and pushed bond yields lower. Gains were broad-based, led by industrials, technology, and travel-related sectors, while energy lagged due to the drop in crude prices. Positioning dynamics, including short covering, further amplified the upside move as volatility eased. The NASDAQ rose 2.8%, the S&P 500 advanced 2.5%, and the Dow Jones Industrial Average gained 2.8%.

European equities ended strongly higher, tracking the positive momentum from Wall Street as the same easing in geopolitical risks and sharp declines in energy prices improved the macro-outlook for the region. Cyclical sectors including industrials, financials, and travel led gains, while energy stocks underperformed amid falling oil prices, and bond yields declined as rate expectations moderated. The FTSE 100 rose 2.5%, the DAX advanced 5.1%, the CAC 40 gained 4.5%, and the EURO STOXX 600 increased 3.9%.

Asian markets are trading higher following the global relief rally, supported by improved risk appetite and a rebound in export-oriented and technology sectors, although sentiment remains somewhat cautious given lingering uncertainty around the durability of the ceasefire and oil price movements. Technology and semiconductor names led gains across the region, with additional support from expectations of more stable global trade conditions. China’s SHCOMP rose 2.7%, South Korea’s KOSPI advanced 6.9%, Japan’s Nikkei 225 gained 5.4%, and Hong Kong’s Hang Seng increased 3.1%.
