Market Wrap International:
U.S. equities ended higher at the close of last week as continued strength in large-cap technology and semiconductor shares supported sentiment, while easing Treasury yields and expectations that the Federal Reserve would remain cautious on additional tightening helped sustain risk appetite. AI-related momentum remained a key driver across growth sectors, with investors also encouraged by signs of stabilization in energy markets following reports of potential progress in U.S.-Iran ceasefire discussions, although inflation and oil price risks continued to limit broader conviction. European markets broadly followed Wall Street’s firmer tone, with technology and defence-related shares supporting major indices as investors balanced resilient corporate earnings against ongoing concerns surrounding energy prices, ECB policy expectations, and Middle East tensions. Asian markets traded mostly higher at the start of the week as semiconductor and AI-linked shares extended gains across North Asia, supported by strong export data from South Korea and continued enthusiasm surrounding regional technology demand, although higher oil prices and renewed geopolitical uncertainty kept overall positioning selective across major markets.
